Soak up the beauty of the West Coast with this two-night, three-day guided hike
The Three Day Crayfish Trail, taking place on Friday 12 January to Sunday 14 January, has been designed to suit those who is looking for an escape from the bustle of the city. This impromptu getaway will have you feeling like you have been on a safari trip as you may your way up the scenic Rocherpan Nature Reserve up the West Coast.
Expect magnificent scenes of immaculate beaches and caves laden with rock art on this guided journey. On Friday, you will enjoy a relaxed afternoon after check-in, thereafter getting to explore the on-site bird hides before sitting down to a delicious home-cooked meal, then retiring early to prepare for a full day ahead.
On Saturday, you will begin the day with a 9 km hike that will last around 3.5 hours. On this route, you will get to experience the pristine landscape and more of the beach before lunch. During midday, guests can indulge in a satisfying lunch at Ventersklip, a protected wetland and Important Bird and Biodiversity Area (IBA). Afterwards, you will take a tour around the surfing capital of Elands Bay as well as set sight on Baboon Point, a provincial heritage site with caves containing meticulous rock art left by the San. To close off the day, enjoy sundowners overlooking the Atlantic Ocean in a restaurant or bar of your choice, and get ready to spend the night in this area.
Sunday morning will see your departure from Vensterklip at 8am. Embrace the scenic drive to Strandfontein and prepare for the last 9 km single track trail with the ocean on your right and fynbos on your left.
