The Buckfever Underground performs at The Fugard

Cult SA rock band launches their new album in Cape Town

The Fugard Theatre brings you South African cult rock band The Buckfever Underground, as they regale audiences with their 14 – track fresh-out-of-the-studio album ,‘Verkeerdevlei’, on Friday, 24 August and Saturday, 25 August 2012 at 8pm.

The Buckfever Underground is a South African punk folk-band created by Toast Coetzer and Gilad Hockman. They specialise in both English and Afrikaans songs, but are, perhaps, most famous for their single “Die Volk (is in die kak)” from their album, ‘Jou Medemens is Dood’ which was featured in a Dutch survey as one of the top 100 best protest songs.

Audiences can look forward to an evening’s entertainment, including a full set by The Buckfever Underground, as well as performances by their solo acts: Gil Hockman, Righard Kapp, Myrid Ambre, Simply Dead and Hummingwolf.

Mail & Guardian had this to say about the group, "The Buckfever Underground is the Mother City`s premier improvisational outfit."

While Cape Argus Tonight waxed, "Each song, line for line, is a vivid verbal voyage much in the vein of Ginsberg and Dylan."
