Mark Haze at Mercury Live

Idols runner-up rocks out in Cape Town

Idols runner-up and longtime rocker Mark Haze – with Down on the First and Frank Freeman – is performing at Mercury Live on Friday, 27 July 2012.

Hot off the heels of the release of his debut album, “Where Angels Fear To Fly”, Mark and his band are performing the much-anticipated rock anthems and soulful ballads that make up the solo LP (much to a Cape Town audience’s delight).

In 2001, Mark and Bjorn Faree started the band Fireborne, which was later renamed to12th Avenue – a title which takes its inspiration from the street the band’s recording studio was in. It wasn’t long before they went on to earn a reputation for being one of the most energetic and entertaining live acts to come out of Cape Town. After rocking for nearly ten years, Mark decided to go solo when he auditioned for season 7 of M-net reality tv show “Idols”, a decision that helped propel him from a part-time gigster to a  a full-time musician.

With a rocking line-up set to liven up even the dullest dude, Mercury Live is taking no prisoners. Not only do you get to hear songs off Mark’s latest album, but the pandora’s box, full frontal sounds of Down on the First and the Rubik’s cube-solving, acoustic crooning of Frank Freeman is also on the bill.
