Cluver Family Harvest Day in Elgin
A stunning day spent celebrating the harvest in the Elgin Wine Valley
On Saturday, 1 April 2017 the Cluver family are opening up their vineyard once again for a one-day celebration of their harvest yield this year. The stunning Paul Cluver estate will transform into a playground for young and old, all of which are promised a good time and some delicious food (and wine for the adults, obviously).
Let’s start where all parents will; kids activities. The organisers of this event have made sure that the little ones will be kept well entertained. There will be a dedicated kids area (with dedicated child minders) to keep the little ones entertained. They will be treated to apple bobbing, sack races, egg and spoon races and plenty of other old-school games. The kiddies will also be provided for, with food vendors having plenty of yummies suited for little tummies.
For the adults, the Cluver Family Harvest Day will be filled with wine, good food, sunshine and harvest activities. The local food vendors will be out in abundance with hearty fare, locally produced cheeses, charcuterie, delicious sandwiches, baked goods, sweet treats and plenty more things to get those tastebuds going. Of course with events at wine farms, the amount of vino would make any journey to get there, totally worth it. There will also be live music on the day to contribute to the festive attitude.
We haven’t even got to the best bit yet! The worst thing about wine festivals is that there is almost always someone that needs to abstain from drinking in order to get everyone home safe. Well, getting to the Cluver Family Harvest Day has never been so easy. The organisers have arranged for a train that departs from Cape Town Station and will take you to Elgin for a day of fun. The train journey will take two hours, and you’ll be given some treats along the way. The train journey will cost R500p/p (return), and does require pre-booking. Children under 18-years-old will travel for free, and this price does not include a festival ticket.
