Beerworx Heritage Day Extravaganza

To beer, or not to beer?

In South Africa, Heritage day is about celebrating our roots and diversity. This year, we have something brewing! One of the events that caught our eye is the Ukhamba Beerworx and Sit The Folk Down Heritage Day Celebration. This family-friendly party will be hosted at the home of Beerworx, the Palms Decor and Lifestyle Woodstock, on Sunday, September 24 2017.

From a delicious braai to a vibrant kids corner, what isn’t there to love? Entertaining games, like beer pong, will be available for the grown-ups. This event promises to keep every member of the family suitably entertained while enjoying a great afternoon nestled in the heart of the city.

Live music will be part of the entertainment. On the lineup you can expect local djs and a live performance from a SAMA award-winning band; Native Young.

Cape Town’s first black-owned craft brewery, Ukhamba Beerworx, opened its doors to the public in July 2017. Lethu Tshabangu, had been working in bars to fund his way through University. It was only fitting that he immerse himself within the culture and create his own brand.

Lethu remained tight lipped about his favorite beer but finally admitted, “Utywala Sorghum Saison has to be my favourite. Its more outstanding than the others because of it’s original African recipe. It represents the Beerworx brand as no one has done it. It replicates umqobothi (traditional African beer) but has a modern twist to it.”

The Heritage Day party wants to celebrate our city’s diversity and to create the perfect opportunity for friends and family to meet up and have a great afternoon. Vibrant bartenders will ensure nectar flows during this event. A variety of craft beers will be on the menu, of course, as well as the in-house craft beer brand of Ukhamba Beerworx.

Beer lovers and guests wanting to have some family-friendly fun can purchase tickets via Quicket.co.za for R100/p. Tickets at the door will be R150/p and children under 12 get free entry. Be sure to purchase a ticket so you aren’t disappointed when you get to the venue and can’t get in because the lively event is full.
