A journey of inspiration
There is no better way to begin the New Year than by taking a nostalgic trip down memory lane with the ever popular Great Pretenders at the Cape Town Convention Centre on the 1st January 2010.
Renowned and highly acclaimed entertainer Jayson Jay King leads and directs this admired show, one of the most notable musical tribute shows of the 21st century.
The talented and youthful 65 year old - Jayson Jay King - starts the show off by telling the story of the diverse and vibrant District Six.
He talks of how they spent their days standing on the corners with the lamppost as their spotlight and singing the popular tunes of Elvis Presley, Shirley Bassey, the Manhattans, Engelbert Humperdinck and Louis Prima - just to name a few.
Jayson says “we are un-ashamed copycat entertainers, and South Africa loves it.” He is joined by Carol –Leigh, Terry Smith and the famous Shirley Bassey impersonator Ruth Marley, who - if you close your eyes – you will convince you that you are in the company of Miss Bassey herself.
This production is amusing and enjoyable and the costumes are as bright and entertaining as those found on sets in Las Vegas. The show was recently sold out the Roxy Theatre at Cape Town’s Grandwest and thousands of people had to be turned away. So don’t miss out and book your tickets through Computicket today.
