Wear away those winter blues with the help of the 8th annual High Street Winter Wine Festival at the High Street Shopping Village in Durbanville from Thursday, 21 June to Saturday, 23 June 2012. At the festival, visitors get to taste and buy wines, homemade food, and fresh produce, and can also look forward to live music as well as free access to the Cape Wine Academy’s wine theatre.
With a selection of over 20 wineries and more than 25 food stalls, festival-goers are certainly spoiled for choice this year. Indulge in the reds, ports, brandies and dessert wines on offer.
Not a fan of winter wines? No worries. A select number of wineries will be presenting a few whites and bubblies.

Not to mention, for ardent rugby fans, not only can you catch the game at Bella Bellota, a grillhouse and pizzeria in the High Street shopping village, but you might just be able to sneak a peak of Jake White, ex Rugby Springbok coach, as he’ll be signing a bottle of wine, one of the prizes that Bok Radio will be giving away in association with the festival. Speaking of which, tune into Bok Radio from Friday, 15 June 2012, to stand a chance to win one of 14 food and wine hampers; the big getaway giveaway will be announced on Thursday, 21 June 2012 at 5pm at the opening of the festival.
The festival runs from 5pm to 9pm on Thursday and Friday, and from 11am to 5pm on Saturday. Included in the ticket price is a branded tasting glass, a goody bag and free participation in the Cape Wine Academy Wine Theatre presentations.
Tickets are R80p/p for online tickets, R90p/p at the door, block bookings and pensioners get a discounted rate of R70p/p. For more information visit Winterwinefestival.co.za.
