The “Shoes from Chinese Ships” exhibition is showing at the Salon91 Gallery on Kloof Street in Cape Town from Wednesday, 1 August to Saturday, 1 September 2012.
This group exhibition features work from emerging and established artists from South Africa and China, and is a conversation in painting, drawing, sculpture and installation inspired by tales, for example, of Ming dynasty shipwreck survivors stranded in Kenya. The exhibition is intended to illuminate the long, intricate and often mysterious relationship between Africa and China.
