Certain decades are enviable for their stylish looks. From the fabulous fifties and swingin’ sixties, up to the naughty nineties, vintage fashion is having a moment, certainly in Cape Town. The Retro Rendezvous Vintage Market, happening on Saturday, 11 November 2017 is the perfect opportunity to get your retro right on. Head out to the PJ Olivier Art Centre in Stellenbosch to find treasures that will add nostalgic vogue to your wardrobe.
Among the 15 chosen traders, there’ll be plenty of choice, from florals and polka dot party dresses, to funky embellishments, pleats and flares.
TRADERS AT THE 2017 RETRO RENDEZVOUS VINTAGE MARKET IN THE PJ OLIVIER ART CENTRE
Style icon Jackie Burger will be sharing expert fashion and style tips at a private talk titled ‘Finding Your Vintage Party Style’ as part of the Retro Rendezvous. The fashionista is the former editor of ELLE magazine in South Africa and the creator of Salon 58, a place inspired by Coco Chanel’s Parisian salon where soirees and the exchanging of fashion advice happened. Needless to say, with some tips from Jackie, you’ll be nailing the retro look in no time. The talk has a separate charge of R100/p, which is payable at the door.
If you consider yourself a bit of a shopaholic and feel guilty about spending the day buying clothes, don’t. Proceeds from the market entry fee will go towards the PJ Olivier Art Centre’s bursary fund. You’ll be supporting a good cause while you shop.
ENTRY TO THE 2017 RETRO RENDEZVOUS VINTAGE MARKET IN THE PJ OLIVIER ART CENTRE
You will be able to purchase tickets for the market at the door. Entry is R10/p for everyone except children under the age of 12, who can visit the market for free. There is a separate entry of R100 for Jackie Burger’s talk.
The market opens at 10am and comes to a close at 3pm. The talk by Jackie begins at 11am and ends at 12pm.
