On Friday, 4 August 2017 Richard Stirton will grace the stage of one of the best up-and-coming live music venues in Cape Town; Cafe Roux on Shortmarket Street. The newly opened venue has already hosted some big names on the local music scene and we can’t wait to see what The Voice SA winner has in store for us!
The very first season of The Voice SA started on 31 January 2016 and quickly climbed the rankings to become one of Mzanzi’s favourite TV shows. I don’t know about you, but Richard Stirton was at least 60% of the reason I tuned in every week – his voice was out of this world. He captivated the nation with his rendition of Disturbed’s ‘The Sound of Silence’. After he was crowned victor, Stirton went straight into performing a series of gigs and even found time to work on an album. If you’re looking for some fresh music, definitely check out Stirton’s latest releases as he offers more of the charm and musical magic that made him so popular in The Voice SA to the stage.
If you haven’t been to the new Cafe Roux then you are in serious need of a town trip. The popular Noordhoek venue has brought its seaside charm to the city centrre. . The two venues have the same style of menu and the same dedication to quality beer, which is a great plus. While Richard Stirton does his thing on stage, you can tuck into a chicken and camembert burger, or sip on some delicious local beer and wine. Their town branch has the same welcoming atmosphere as Noordhoek and is increasingly regarded as one of the best, most unpretentious live music venues in town.
Let’s take a second here to look (and listen!) back at some of Richard Stirton’s best The Voice SA performances! Everybody needs a little inspiration, and what better way to inspire than looking at a local lad who made it big?
If you can’t make it to the Friday, 4 August show, he is performing at the Noordhoek venue the day before, on Thursday, 3 August 2017. Spend your First Thursday out of the city for once and get to see this local success story!
