On Friday, 23 June 2017, guests at Dizzy’s Restaurant and Pub in Camps Bay will be treated to the sweet sounds of local lads Ben Dey and The Concrete Lions. The evening will kick off at 7pm, and go on until about 11pm. Dizzy’s serves awesome food (and plenty of drinks) so settle in for the night and enjoy some local sounds. For those that aren't familiar with Dizzy’s, the vibe is very chilled and the dress code is casual. Think of Dizzy’s as your favourite local hangout, with the added bonus of great food and amazing drinks specials!
Ben Dey and The Concrete Lions specialise in afro/indie pop rock and they hail from right here in the Mother City. They secured their space in the local music scene with their first single ‘Easy Love’. It reached number one on the 5FM Top 10 chart, the Tuks FM SA Top 10 and it even gained some time on Joburg’s biggest radio station, 94.7. They’ve performed at Oppikoppi, the White Mountain Festival, Park Acoustics, Rocking the Daisies, Smoking Dragon Festival and an independent tour of the UK! They’ve opened up for Springbok Nude Girls, Freshlyground, Albert Frost, Grassy Spark, Ard Matthews, The Parlotones and Hot Water.
The band is made up of Ben Dey on vocals and rhythm guitar, Ongama Mona on lead guitar, Alex Birns on percussion and Dillon Birns on bass. They formed in 2015 and have gone from strength to strength ever since. They love the music they make, and they hope that you can love it too. Have a listen to what you can expect at the Ben Dey and The Concrete Lions live at Dizzy’s (and plan your dance moves accordingly) -
