Bastille fans rejoice, because your favourite Indie Brit band is visiting the Mother City once again this October! On Wednesday, 4 October 2017, the Bastille lads will light up your life with their mixture of pop, rock and indie music at GrandWest Casino and Entertainment World in Goodwood.
The brit band shot to fame in 2010, and (here’s a little bit of insider info for you) the band is named after Bastille Day because that’s Dan Smith’s birthday. For those who don’t know, Dan Smith is the lead singer. The other members include Kyle Simmons on keyboard, Chris Wood on drums and Will Farquarson on bass guitar.
Have a little listen to some of their major hits:
Last time Bastille came to Cape Town, they performed at Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens and, while trying to be as non-dramatic as possible, they rocked my world. We’ve all heard their lyrics pumped through the radio, or in the background of some well-loved programmes but to see them live was an absolute privilege, especially at the stunning national treasure that is Kirstenbosch.
It’s all very well saying a band is good when all you listen to is prerecorded music, but the best bands know how to rock it live too. Bastille is just as good live as they are on their albums. In the UK, they have a radio station called Radio One, and they are famous for bringing in big acts and asking them to perform someone else’s music live on air. This is what happened when Bastille applied their talents to the work of Miley Cyrus and ‘We Can’t Stop’:
