Subtle Thresholds Exhibition at Iziko South African Museum
An exhibition curated by GIPCA Creative Art Awardee Fritha Langerman
Subtle Thresholds explores infectious diseases and the complex inter-relationship between zoological, human and microbial worlds, and is on display at the Iziko South African Museum until the end of July 2010.
Langerman spent over two years developing this exhibition and has combined thousands of elements - including new artworks and artefacts from the Iziko South African Museum, the University of Cape Town and the Wits Adler Museum - to examine the historic and current visual representation of disease. “Infectious diseases are the frontier at which species meet,” said Langerman.
Subtle Thresholds has been made possible due to the funding from the Gordon Institute for Performing and Creative Arts, the National Arts Council and the National Research Foundation.
