Simon and Garfunkel Tribute at Jamrock Theatre

The Cadillacs present “Bridge Over Troubled Water” in the Northern Suburbs

The Cadillacs perform a tribute to one of the most iconic and memorable groups of all time, Simon and Garfunkel, on Friday, 27 July 2012, at the Jamrock Theatre in Brackenfell.

They don’t make music like they used to; that is, unless you’re lucky enough to see The Cadillacs: they only make music originally produced and performed by legendary artists of past.

The Cadillacs are a function band, produced by Joe Recrosio Productions, who specialise in performing tributes in honour of some of the most well-known and, perhaps, sorely-missed musicians of times gone by. The band is made up of Joe Recrosio, Greg Schoeman, Gordon Mackay, Reg Edwards, Wayne Smith, Alison Combrink and Skye Wilson.

This particular musical show is a tribute to Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel, otherwise known as  Simon and Garfunkel . Really though, the duo needs no introduction, simply a nod of respect at their impressive command over the charts for an entire generation will do. Oh, and maybe a subtle acknowledgement that while they were mildly preoccupied with captivating a global population, they were also producing an album, “Bridge Over Troubled Water”, that stayed on the charts for over 300 weeks, earning both US and UK number one slots.

This album, to no one’s great surprise, also received a US Grammy Award.

Famous for their haunting melodies, Simon and Garfunkel were one of a few artists to help create what music-lovers might call “the soundtrack to the 60s (the decade that changed the world)”, the well-recognised backbeat to LSD, free love, activism and feminism.
