Afternoon tea at the Mount Nelson Hotel is the perfect occasion to indulge in some of those finer pleasures. Described as one of the best high tea experiences in the world; sweet confections and savoury selections perfectly complement the superb premium teas.

You'll enjoy delicate finger sandwiches filled with rare roast beef and rocket, smoked salmon, egg mayonnaise or cucumber, and you will surely lose yourself in thought as you savour the delectable dark chocolate cake and heavenly lemon meringue. The freshly-baked scones are traditional favourites, served with clotted cream and preserves, and as a special local treat, enjoy a typical South African milk tart, called 'melktert' in Afrikaans.

Sourced from a local supplier, the varied array of leaf and flowering teas are sure to impress. The signature Mount Nelson Tea has been expertly blended from six teas: Darjeeling, Kenya, Assam, Keemun, Yunnan, Ceylon, and rose petals out of their very own garden.

Afternoon tea is served in the lounge, on the terrace or in the estate around the garden fountain daily from 2.30pm to 5.30pm (R185 per person, R85 per child under 12).

A lighter version of afternoon tea is served every morning, and it‘s the perfect setting for an informal business meeting, a get together with friends or simply catching up on precious me-time.

Morning tea is served in the lounge, on the terrace or in the estate around the garden fountain, with tiered stands delivered to the table daily from 9.30am to 12.30pm (R109 per person, R60 per child under 12).
