Take it easy at the Big Easy

Ernie Els’s namesake restaurant is offering an ‘express lunch’ special with their 2-course special for just R125, this includes, with your main meal, either a starter or dessert.

The Big Easy is situated in a national monument known as La Gratitude, built in 1798 by the first reverend of Stellenbosch. The rambling property on Dorp Street is a mix of Cape Dutch, Georgian and Victorian architecture and is fondly known as ‘The Grand Old Lady.

With its connection to Ernie Els Wines it comes as no surprise that the experience here is seriously wine-driven. With over 170 wines on the wine list, an ever evolving wines-by-glass offering plus a wine shop; here you can you do tutored tastings and purchase all of the aforementioned estate’s wines at cellar door prices. So if you’re not in a hurry then make an afternoon of it.

Choose from delicious meals such as the slow cooked springbok shank or the crispy pork belly and make sure you have space saved for a Belgium chocolate fondant or a bourbon vanilla crème brûleé.

The Big Easy has a number of rooms to choose from, each with their own décor and feel so you can tailor your experience to the occasion. This is the place to go for a special lunch at a great price.
