Heartland / Hartland Exhibition at Grande Provence Gallery

An art exhibition featuring Jane Eppel, Mila Posthumus Reyneke and Marieke Prinsloo at Grande Provence

Marieke Prinsloo works primarily in concrete and more recently in bronze. Prinsloo sculpts strong female figures – such as her ‘Life size Females’ and ‘Primavera’ sculptures are on display in the Sculpture Garden at Grande Provence. Prinsloo has won numerous awards and has exhibited extensively over the past decade and her works reveal an inner serenity and a celebration of womanhood.



Mila Posthumus Reyneke’s works on this exhibition deal with the spaces in and around us. Interior spaces are depicted in a moody, emotive way, displaying objects, scenes and people. This collection of work is directly influenced by the Dutch masters- their style as well as subject matter. The paintings offer snapshots of this time and place in a very personal sense. The artist wants to draw the attention to a specific aspect, be it the person on the sofa or the quality of light at that time of day, in a specific environment.

Jane Eppel’s work reveals quiet glimpses into the personal space of an artist who celebrates beauty and depth in unexpected places. Her work has been described as quiet meditations which operate on two intersecting planes “that allow the fusion of seeming opposites: privacy and accessibility, the personal and the public, the mysterious and the mundane, the spiritual and the worldly” (Prof. Neville Dubow, opening address of ‘Sanctum’).
